Mumbai Police Impounds Ranvir Shorey's Car; Cops Say Child Being Delivered Isn't An Emergency And Is Let Off After 8 hours
As there is a nationwide lockdown in the country due to the outbreak of Coronavirus, the movement of cars has been limited and special permission needs to be taken to move around. However, people are allowed to use vehicles in case of emergency. But actor Ranvir Shorey suffered a bizarre incident when he sent his father's help to the hospital in his car as his wife was in labor. The hospital needed documents and hence the father of the child was carrying them in Ranvir Shorey's car. The actor has given a complete account of the incident on his Twitter account and stated that the police are trying to gain some popularity at his expense by filing a case against him.

The actor started off by saying that a police officer who stopped his car stated that 'a child being born is not an emergency'. He tweeted, "My car being impounded for taking my household help for his wife’s delivery to hospital. Officer in charge says a child being delivered is not an emergency. Please advise." Mumbai Police was quick to respond to this tweet of Ranvir. He then mentioned that the police officer stated that the doctor and the help's wife can take care of the delivery.

In his next tweet, the actor stated that a complaint is being filed against the driver of his car and that his car is being impounded. "Saddened and disappointed that the transgression and highhandedness of one policeman is going to cost me my car, and an FIR against my innocent driver. Even after 3 hours, there has been no redressal of my complaints."

For 8 hours, Ranvir Shorey waited at the police station to get his driver and his car freed. Last he made a tweet saying, "After more than 8 hours, we have been let go. No FIR, car not impounded. Thank you, @MumbaiPolice @CPMumbaiPolice for listening, albeit a bit late. I may have lost 8 hours, but not my faith in you." In the end, Aditya Thackray too tweeted asking Mumbai Police to deliver his car rather than asking him to come back and collect it.

As reported by Mumbai Mirror, the actor even released a statement on the incident and stated that a police officer is trying to attain some fame at his expense. He quoted, "A certain PI Mr Vijay Kumar Kadam has been giving out media statements, stating an FIR is being filed against me and my car is being impounded. Indeed, very sad. Since he wants to be famous at my expense, I felt I should help him."
